Hello ER staff! I just want to ask why RedProtect is being replaced with PreciousStones? In my opinion RedProtect is much easier to use and provides very easy way to choose who will be allowed to do what in the region. (/rp flag, /rp addmember, /rp addowner) With PreciousStones however, I find that it is very difficult and confusing to protect anything because it's hard to know exactly what is being covered pstone you place. In most cases many pstones are needed to completely protect one area due to the fact they only cover a set area that protects only 7 blocks up and down and 20 blocks in each direction. (for CityProtect/Emerald Block) Also, PreciousStones does not have a member/owner functionality or any diverse flag options so you know what is allowed/not allowed in the region for who. With RedProtect you simply surround what you want to protect with fence or redstone and place a sign to protect the area from Sky Limit to Bedrock!

I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining, but, I find RedProtect so much easier and simpler to use and can't imagine why someone would want to replace it with PreciousStones. RedProtect is one of the reasons I love this server so much and I hate to see it go. I'm not asking you to keep it. (although it would be nice) I just want to know why it is being replaced.

Thank you.

With precious stones you lay down the block and then you can easily set the edges of your protection by clicking the block while holding a pick axe. This puts you in "drawing mode" where you just go outside and click on any block to define where the edges are. This works going upwards and downwards as well.... if you mess up you simply go click the block again and it closes drawing mode and then you click it again to open it and start over.... There are flags in this program just as there were in rp and you can have plots within plots with ps whereas you could not in rp. Please do yourself a favor and go on youtube for some quick tutorials it's really a much better plugin with many more fun things to do and explore.

Rp was all up and down, nothing else. A good/average build is anywhere between 15x15 to 20x20. (225 or 400 blocks horizontal). Meaning you could do two houses, a house and a farm, a house and a creative build, and that's it.

With PS, you protect what you want. I beleive regular users have 60000 blocks (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). I'll use my house/farm statistics as an example against this limit. 22x36x22 = 17424 of my blocks used, and my tower farm (Which I was forced to build as a tower because of rp's limitations): 12x49x15 = 8820. This would leave me with 33756 (56.25%) left. With RP I would have had 336 (32.5%) blocks left. Or an 18x18 area.

So, PS allows you to protect more builds, and you can still use /ps allow [username] to add people to the area. As well, you can still modify the flags as you see fit.

Why buy a car? My pogo stick gets me around, and costs nothing to maintain.... where as i often have to get the car gas and oil. I often find a need to carry a backpack on my pogo stick, and i simply cannot wear a backpack in a car. I need insurance for the car, not the stick...... so i say, no one EVER buyba car. They are terrible.

I also have not taken the time to learn how to properly use a car

I understand.

It does have more functionality then RedProtect. I've played around with it and learned to like it. Tutorials weren't much help and it takes a lot of trial and error to get it how you want. But, if your willing to take the time, it does provide better protection. it just takes a while.

You all made great points and I agree with you all completely. (I like the analogy insignia XD ) Thanks!

... they are issues with both Red Protect and Precious Stones. I particularly favor RP because it's free and simple. precious Stone needs much explaining, supposedly causes a lot of lag, and requires money.

I admit, Precious Stone has some really awesome features. But i don't think it's worth it. Staff, you're going to be working your muffins off trying to explain the confusion to those who don't research themselves, players are going to have to invest a lot of money into buying and harvesting materials, and supposably we're all gonna deal with more lag. Which we don't need. We already have 10 x more than average lag.

If we're going to go through with this, a lot more needs to be done and discussed. What features shall be disabled? What shall be done to protect builds of players whom have been in-active recently? What shall be done to aid poorer players in protecting themselves?
